Sr. Technical Program Manager (Hybrid)

About the Team

HashiCorp is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager who is excited to drive operational excellence and consistency across several cross-functional platform programs that impact many people at HashiCorp, based in India and working alongside the teams operating there.

As part of the R&D Operations team, you'll improve and execute on the strategy and operations within R&D at HashiCorp. You will drive complex programs and initiatives requiring cross functional collaboration across multiple disciplines. You will work collaboratively across multiple geographies to execute work against detailed program plans, tracking milestones, resolving issues and blockers, and reporting status including appropriate risk escalation as needed. You will also provide day-to-day support for the operational rhythms of the India-based teams, including but not limited to regular planning and execution of work reviews, metrics capture and tracking, and regular planning of upcoming initiatives and events as appropriate.

You will be responsible for bringing cohesion and collaboration across engineering, product, design and other cross-functional partners for development, delivery, and launch of Platform work especially with infrastructure and systems. Initially, we expect this role to have a contribution to operational readiness, disaster recovery, infrastructure, finops, and excellence around incident management. You should have a strong appreciation for scaling up our processes, excel with ambiguity, thrive in a dynamic environment, be a strong self-starter, and have excellent interpersonal skills. 

Our R&D team, as well as the other cross-functional teams you'll work with, are largely remote, and many are working in other geos such as the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Note, this role specifically requires a hybrid work environment. While prior experience working remotely isn't required, we are looking for team members who perform well given a high level of independence. Excellent systems thinking, collaboration & communication, and team-building skills are required to collaborate effectively with organizational leaders in other functions.

What you’ll do (responsibilities)

  • Drive outcomes, not outputs. Achieving valuable business results, through positive means and interactions, is what matters to R&D Operations and the TPM function
  • Lead coordination and planning for platform-specific and cross-product programs to ensure that the processes run smoothly for the team
  • Manage the collaboration between engineering, product, design, and other functions by identifying priorities, defining cross-functional milestones, and creating plans
  • Work closely with leadership teams to drive execution of strategic initiatives, proactively identifying risks & obstacles along with mitigation plans
  • Work collaboratively with other TPMs across R&D Operations to carry out/roll out new processes, updates to ways of working, and to help develop templates and new approaches to scale our operation globally
  • Work with relevant stakeholder groups outside of R&D when needed, such as Security teams, to identify product dependencies, drive alignment and interlocks, and track ongoing progress
  • Create and manage detailed program plans including scope, dependency, risks 
  • Own systems for project documentation, status tracking, portfolios, dashboards and communication between project stakeholders to ensure overall program health
  • Establish, drive and continuously improve standards for processes that promote a high standard for delivery and efficiency of teams
  • Contribute to an environment that's conducive to great execution culture and removes obstacles to project completion
  • Work closely with leadership teams and operational teams on priority and productivity process improvements

What you’ll need (basic qualifications)

  • 5+ years of experience in an R&D program management role driving projects through full product life cycle
  • Familiarity with HashiCorp products
  • Knowledge of cloud platform and internal platform tools and best practices
  • Proven ability to creatively solve complicated problems 
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills, understanding of the needs of all stakeholders, and a track record of delivering projects
  • Experience in a rapid growth of the organization, working cross-functionally with teams delivering enterprise software
  • Strong bias for action and an intrinsic ability to deal with ambiguity 
  • Commuting distance to Bengaluru office (2 days per week)
