Vault is HashiCorp’s multi-cloud security platform. Vault’s core use cases are in Secrets Lifecycle Management, Encryption, and Access/Identity Management. Its enterprise users are some of the world's largest finance, healthcare, and technology companies. The Vault product design team is passionate about helping our customers reduce the risk of data exposure and security breaches.
As a Product Design Intern working on Vault, you’ll join a group of talented product designers who are designing and delivering a best-in-class experience for secrets management. You’ll collaborate tightly with designers, engineers, and product managers across our globally distributed team to act on high-priority roadmap initiatives. You’ll be one part of a close-knit team of product designers working on Vault, and a much larger community of designers working across Hashicorp’s Infrastructure, Cloud Platform, and Security products.
What you’ll do (responsibilities)
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners on user experience challenges.
- Distill complex user flows into simple and efficient experiences
- Contribute to discovery and user research efforts involving technical users
- Collaborate on a growing design system to share patterns across HashiCorp tools
- Receive mentorship on any areas of growth you’re looking for, and share your own expertise in areas of strength you bring to the team
What you’ll need (basic qualifications)
- Are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in HCI, Design, Computer Science, or equivalent training in the United States and returning back to school following completion of this internship.
- Have a product design portfolio with case studies and/or student projects
- Have academic or professional experience working in a corporate environment
- Are comfortable working with highly technical team members and end users alike
- Have familiarity with or interest in information security and developer experience
- Proficient in designing and prototyping in Figma
- Familiar with user research methods (remote user testing, survey research, usability testing, field research)
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Have the constant desire to grow, learn, and explore new things
- Emulate the HashiCorp principles
