Waypoint: The Missing Abstraction between Devs and Deployments
Waypoint is a platform engineering abstraction layer that lets developers deploy with one command without having to worry about dependencies, stacks, and integrations.
In the current world of devops and cloud infrastructure, developers often find themselves needing to learn and be aware of the intricacies of the specific infrastructure at play in the company. At the same time, infrastructure engineers have a hard time managing and changing infrastructure centrally, because developers are so tightly coupled to the current status-quo.
This talk describes this problem, and introduces Waypoint as a solution - an abstraction introduced over deployment infrastructure that gives developers the tools that the need (but not more), and allows infradevs to fully own and change the underlying infrastructure.
