Product Manager II, Platform Billing

About the team

We seek an experienced Product Manager to join the team focused on HCP’s Billing experience—enabling customers to trial and procure products, to understand their product usage, and to allocate and pay for the associated cost. This is a crucial role with a specific focus on collaborating with business and cloud product teams to enable product launches, pricing and packaging changes, and cloud portfolio growth initiatives. This role will report into Jared Kirschner.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a PM team focused on providing core billing capabilities that enable our cloud portfolio initiatives and better serve the billing needs of our enterprise customers.

What you’ll do (responsibilities)

  • Own the roadmap for core billing capabilities by considering input from teams who offer products on HCP, marketing, customers, leadership, and others—balancing short-term needs, long-term capabilities, process improvements, and reliability enhancements
  • Manage expectations of diverse internal stakeholders who depend on platform billing’s work for their own initiatives and priorities
  • Conduct discovery activities on core-billing related requests to understand the right underlying problems to solve, which may include user research, stakeholder interviews, and reviews of existing approaches in our market
  • Write detailed product requirement documents that articulate the right problem to solve, setting context for implementation
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Design, peer PMs, IT, Business Planning, Revenue Operations, Support, and Sales on defining and implementing the right solution
  • Enable go-to-market by contributing to internal enablement and customer-facing collateral

What you’ll need (basic qualifications)

  • 5+ years of product management experience
  • Tech Conversance—Comfort quickly building an understanding of technical products and engaging in conversations with subject matter experts about them
  • User Empathy—Curiosity about the root cause of frustration, mistakes, or misunderstandings, and follow through on addressing them
  • Drive to Simplify—Shape common, simple, coherent solutions from complex, possibly divergent inputs
  • Strong Attention to Detail
  • Love of Numbers—Comfort with math, spreadsheets, and optionally SQL
  • Adaptability—Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Nice to have: prior experience in the cloud platform infrastructure, payments, or usage-based billing spaces

What's nice to have (preferred qualifications)

  • Humility
  • Pragmatism
  • Explain complex ideas simply
  • Written, verbal, and visual communication skills
  • Reflective
  • Responsible and takes ownership over work
