Learn Lab: Crack the monolith with Consul and Nomad

In this lab, you will use Nomad to detach part of an application from its monolith and leverage Consul’s networking features to help you connect microservices. First, you will learn how Nomad job specifications create scalable solutions for on-prem and hybrid cloud environments. Then you will use Consul to automate networking and application security. Finally, you will use Consul and Nomad together to write configuration-as-code that reacts to traffic peaks and migrates workloads to save costs.

Lab prerequisites:
To follow along the hands-on lab, you would need the following:

• Nomad CLI is installed

• Consul CLI is installed

• Packer CLI is installed

• Terraform CLI is installed

• AWS account and credentials environment variables set

• openssl and hey cli tools are installed
